Speaker Biographies

Ricardo Torres Pérez was born in Cuba in 1981. Ricardo completed a Bachelor's and Master's Degree at the University of Havana. He is currently a Professor in Economics at Centro de Estudios de la Economía Cubana within the University of Havana. Ricardo has participated in seminars and workshops in Sweden, Japan and China and is currently working on his PhD. His main research interests are the economics of structural change, knowledge economy and energy economics. He has published two books and various papers.

Oscar Fernández Estrada was born in Cuba in 1978. Oscar completed a Bachelor's and PhD at the University of Havana. He also completed a Diploma in Advanced Studies (DEA) in Economics at the University of Oviedo, Spain. He is currently a Professor in Economics at the Faculty of Economics within the University of Havana. Oscar is also the Head of Economic Planning Department at the Faculty, and the Chairman of the Planning and Statistics Office of the Economy vice Rectory at the University of Havana. Oscar has participated on seminars in Spain and Jamaica. His main research interests are the innovation themes and the planned economies procedure. He has published various papers. He is also a Member of the Provincial Assembly of Popular Power in Havana, on which is head of the Committee for Science, Innovation and Environment issues.
