Minimum requirements

  • A Doctoral-level qualification [HEQF Level 10]
  • Formal training in political economy, endogenous growth theory and/ or evolutionary economics
  • Extensive research experience in the analysis of Science, Technology and Systems of Innovation
  • Research experience in a multidisciplinary settings, public policy and industry
  • Track record of academic publications, research reports and proposal writing
  • Demonstrated teaching and post-graduate supervision experience

Key responsibilities

  • Guidance to staff and students in post graduate programmes
  • A limited lecturing load
  • Engagement in self-initiated and group research projects
  • Generating grant and research proposals to private and public funding agencies
  • Establishment and maintenance of local, national and international linkages in academic and policy networks

The successful candidate will be expected to join the established programmes of the Institute for Economic Research on Innovation (IERI) in the Faculty of Economics and Finance. They will also be expected to contribute to the research, teaching and community engagement outputs of IERI and the Faculty.

  • It is required that the applicants submit at least a five-page research proposal and a two-year plan of how they intend to undertake research and plans for publication by selecting a research question connecting science, technology and innovation with challenges of economic growth, social development and political democracy. IERI has a special focus on the continent of Africa and its institutions. The research proposal and two-year plan will need to account for this orientation.
