Esther Makhetha is a Senior Lecturer at the Institute for Economic Research on Innovation (IERI) in Tshwane University of Technology. She is the Human Economy Research Associate at the University of Pretoria. She was the Postdoctoral Fellow at the Graduate School of Business Leadership, University of South Africa (UNISA) from 2018 to 2021.
Her research interests include agriculture, artisanal and small-scale mining, development economics, labour and migration, food security, gender, land reform, land needs and land use, political economy, social and cultural dynamics of rural development.
